(Known as The Salvation Army Bazaar Centre)
The Bazaar is open for business every Saturday from 9.00am until
2.00pm
UPDATE
For the past year I regret to inform you that the quality of service,
parking, and "good deals" have gone. The once foreign
friendly staff have been very unfriendly lately. The prices of late
are very close to US prices. I have found actually new products
cheaper. If you are looking for a good deal, I now recommend "any"
department store or "The Oriental Bazaar" between Harajuku
and Omotesando stations.
I would like to share with you an experience I had today, as an
example 1/7/2007
I drove my car to the shop. Leaving 8am, I arrived at 9:15 (1 hour
and 15 mins of driving) I was greeted by two security guards at
the entrance of the parking lot. They said in Japanese "Full",
I asked in Japanese "where can I wait or is there another parking
lot near by." They responded very rudely "No and Nothing."
two words. I asked again a bit more forcefully and they said "You
foreigners don't need to drive here, if you can't drive around and
wait you don't need to come." Basically saying "you're
not welcome here." VERY RUDE. I returned home without "driving
around aimlessly wasting gas."
12/9/2006
I went to the Bazaar however what I observed was extremely rude.
I found several people trying to negotiate with staff, with the
staff rudely repeating over and over again, "Too cheap, too
cheap, no way, forget it, no discount it's already cheap. etc."
I thought this shop was "all donations." I thought they
received most if not all of their products for "FREE",
why won't they negotiate. Why are they pricing everything now. I
mean everything has a price on it and they don't negotiate very
much. Very Regrettable.
So I will provide you with the directions to get to the shop, but
to be honest I won't be going there again. Only open 1 time a week,
terrible service, rude staff, I have better things to do on my weekends
than deal with rude Japanese people.
How to get there by Public Transport:
Train: The nearest train station is Nakano-fujimicho on the
Marunouchi Line. There is only one exit at Nakano-fujimicho Station.
When you get out from the station, turn left. Go straight until
the 4th traffic light, which has a sign, "Wada 2". Turn right at
this traffic light. Go straight until you reach The Salvation Army
Booth Memorial Hospital. Turn left and pass in front of the hospital.
On the corner on the right you will see a brick building, which
is The Salvation Army Suginami Corps. Just past that is the Bazaar
Centre, a 2 floor white building.
